Hmmm, found even more nail holes in our shingles, this time on the front side of the house.
Maverick Homes and Armstrong Air
Here’s the latest issue I found just over a week ago. I discovered 1 of the HVAC return air ducts was not going through the ceiling. I took a picture of the ceiling where we found it should be coming through. The duct was run in the Attic but they just put sheetrock over it so it was terminated to the ceiling with no air flow.
Here’s a pic of what it looks like now.
The HVAC tech was out to work on the nasty smell that comes in when it’s cold outside with high humidity and cut out the sheetrock and installed the vent. The cause of the nasty odor hasn’t been found and now that it’s warm we will have to deal with that again next winter. After 5 times working on it over this last winter they still haven’t figured it out. I’m guessing we will have to go to Armstrong Air directly (just like we had to go through the manufacturer of our patio door to get it resolved after Maverick Homes tried replacing it twice without success).
Why???
Some have noticed the over 1 year gap in posts. We had met with the owner of Maverick Homes back in January 2015 and we were told everything would be fixed (and we could delete the website) but now that it is clear they have no intention of fixing everything we should let others know what to expect. It is a long dark road for sure…..
We continue to hear about other neighbors having the same types of problems and regrets buying from Maverick Homes.
Electrical
Roof leaking since May 2015
Here’s a picture of where the water was coming through the ceiling. We still have 2 tubs in the attic to catch the water every time we get rain as they haven’t fixed the leak.
The drywall repair – they just patched it with mud, tape and texture instead of replacing.
Want to buy a Maverick Home! I have one for you.

They used caulking to fill nail holes in the shingles instead of replacing. There are a lot of shingles that are like this. This speaks volumes about how they respond to problems such as your roof leaking. Stop and ask other Maverick Homes buyers in Claire Vista about their roof leaks as most of their homes in this development have had or still have water leaks from around the chimney.
I will add some pics of the poor flashing work around the chimney and the build up of goop that they have repeatedly added on instead of taking it out, replacing, and fixing it right.
Patio frame getting replaced for 2nd time
Notice there is nothing covering our patio concrete where they threw the old bricks. Patio door has finally been installed correctly but they beat the crap out of our concrete by just letting the brick drop on it when they were removing it. Then they made even more pits when they threw them into the pile as shown.
Mavericks response: That’s just the way it is.

There’s a pic of just one spot.
More pics and details to come.
Bathroom
More info to come soon but the just of it is that there was a leak inside the wall and Maverick Homes is taking their time fixing it. We notified them about the issue before Thanksgiving and here is what it looks like today.
This was finally repaired in Jan 2015. We ended up being without use of our 2nd bathroom for over 7 weeks, 52 days actually.
Dishwasher Leak
Oct. 28 we ran the dishwasher and later that evening we noticed a pool of water next to it on the hardwood floor. The hardwood ended up being warped and the plumbers and appliance repair people blamed each other but ultimately it was fixed somewhat timely. The hardwood was another story. They didn’t replace the damaged wood until this last Saturday Dec 13. And of course neither Maverick Homes or the hardwood floor company had anyone clean up afterwards. So we got to do our 2nd massive cleanup since moving in. I took a picture of it to show what our floors looked like the day we closed (since I didn’t back then) and then again after the hardwood floor repair. This is what all the kitchen cabinets, light fixtures, dining room table and chairs, etc looked like.
